Congratulations to local artist Cynthia Scott, one of the exhibiting artists participating in 'MIRROR for the 21st Century'. She recenty received word that she was chosen as a co-recipient along with her grant proposing partner, Damon Rosenzweig, of a highly competitive award granted by The Arts Council of New Orleans and the Joan Mitchell Foundation. They were awarded $25,000 for a 2008 New Orleans Art in Public Places Commission and we look forward to seeing the final work installed here in the city of New Orleans.
"We are truly grateful for the support of our international guest curator Helen Pheby and those artists who submitted their work for consideration. This dedicated international component of our gallery program brings something very unique to the city of New Orleans. It allows us to make many innovative and exciting works by emerging international artists available to both collectors and art enthusiasts. Most of the works in this show from abroad are not currently available in any other US city outside of New York. It's been hard work but also extremely rewarding at the same time." - Melissa and Kurt, co-directors.
